Mercedes-Benz automatic transmission oil MB 236.14 is the OEM transmission oil from Mercedes-Benz for use in the 7-speed automatic transmission Mercedes-Benz 7G-Tronic 722.9.

The distinction between 7G-Tronic and 7G-Tronic Plus automatic transmission becomes essential when choosing the right automatic transmission fluid for your Mercedes! While for the original 7G-Tronic transmission a transmission oil according to the Mercedes-Benz release MB 236.14 was prescribed, in the 7G-Tronic Plus an oil with lower viscosity is used, which receives the MB 236.15 release.

Be sure to determine whether your vehicle has a 7G-Tronic or 7G-Tronic+ automatic transmission. Transmission oils according to MB 236.15 release are not downward compatible with other transmission oils and must not be used in a 7G-Tronic, in which a transmission oil according to MB 236.14 must be filled.

7G-Tronic and 7G-Tronic+ transmissions can be identified by the following features:

• 7G-Tronic+ transmissions have the equipment code A89 for the friction-reduced converter on the data card and a transmission number from 2.834.527 onwards.
• 7G-Tronic transmissions do not have the code A89. Transmission numbers up to 2.834.526 are 7G-Tronic transmissions.

When to change Mercedes 7G-Tronic transmission oil?

For the oil change of the automatic transmission oil Mercedes-Benz prescribes partly different change intervals for the 7G-Tronic and 7G-Tronic Plus transmissions. A distinction is often made here according to vehicle model or installed engine. An oil change on the 7G-Tronic transmission is often due after 50,000 km or 3 years (exceptions must be observed!).

With the improved 7G-Tronic+ transmission, change intervals are often higher: Here, the prescribed change is usually due after 125,000 km or 5 years.
