What does ACEA A5/B5 stand for?


The ACEA A5/B5 specification is aimed at gasoline and diesel engines that rely on a low viscosity of the engine oil. With the A5B5 specification, ACEA prescribes an HTHS viscosity between 2.9 and 3.5 cP.

Since 2004, the European ACEA (Association des Constructeurs Européens d'Automobiles) has continued to update the ACEA A5/B5 specification and revise its requirements:

ACEA A5/B5 oil: Which viscosity for your car?


Which viscosity you can choose in connection with the ACEA A5/B5 viscosity depends on your vehicle and the installed engine. In the vehicle manual of your car you will find a detailed description of how you should select your engine oil.
